Minimally Invasive Hip Surgery
Expert hip arthroscopy to diagnose and treat hip joint conditions. Dr. Daniel Feghhi is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in minimally invasive hip arthroscopic surgery for FAI, labral tears, and other hip conditions.
What Is Hip Arthroscopy
Hip arthroscopy is a minimally invasive surgical procedure that allows doctors to view the hip joint and treat conditions without making large incisions. During the procedure, a small camera (arthroscope) is inserted through tiny incisions to provide a clear view of the hip joint on a monitor.
This advanced technique is used to treat femoroacetabular impingement (FAI), labral tears, cartilage damage, and other hip conditions. Hip arthroscopy offers smaller incisions, less pain, and faster recovery compared to traditional open hip surgery.
Are You a Candidate?
Hip arthroscopy is recommended for patients with hip conditions that haven't responded to conservative treatments.
Patients with femoroacetabular impingement causing hip pain during movement.
Tears in the hip labrum (cartilage ring) causing pain and instability.
Patients with articular cartilage injuries or defects in the hip joint.
Inflammation of the hip joint lining causing pain and swelling.
Small fragments of bone or cartilage causing hip catching or locking.
When imaging doesn't clearly show the source of chronic hip pain.
The Procedure
Dr. Feghhi performs hip arthroscopy using advanced techniques to diagnose and treat hip conditions with minimal invasiveness.
You'll receive general anesthesia. Dr. Feghhi will position your hip using special traction to provide access to the joint space.
2-3 small portal incisions (5mm each) are made around the hip for the arthroscope and instruments.
The arthroscope provides magnified images to examine the labrum, cartilage, and hip structures.
Dr. Feghhi performs necessary treatments: debridement, repair, shaving bone spurs, or removing loose bodies.
Incisions are closed with small stitches or surgical glue, and you'll begin your recovery.
Recovery Timeline
Recovery from hip arthroscopy is typically faster than open hip surgery. Most patients return to normal activities within 2-4 weeks.
Recovery timelines are general guidelines. Your specific recovery depends on the procedure performed, your age, overall health, and commitment to physical therapy. Dr. Feghhi will provide personalized recovery instructions during your consultation.
